"It's time you became an adult", its been a while since I heard that. What does that actually mean, I don't know but will make an attempt.
Firstly, whenever you tell someone to "Grow Up" it basically means "be miserable" or "eat some shit and pretend it is chocolate". It is the most efficient phrase ever devised to get people to do soul crushing, mind numbing chores.
Realize that when you tell people to become Adult—as if it is a prize in itself—the average person does not see hipsters hi-fiving each others while dating supermodels and working for google. No. What he sees is a beaten, de-souled organic matter who is waiting to kick the bucket all the while doing everything to make himself as miserable as humanly possible.
But, let us not get swayed by emotions and try to understand what being an adult means. A child is the first step in life of a man. It is the time when we are filled with hope, curiosity and imagination. It is also a time filled with extreme caution. Teenage is basically the opposite of childhood, it is filled with fearlessness, brashness and boldness.
I am going Hegel on this shit and will guess that Adulthood should be the synthesis of childhood and teenage. So an adult should be a reckless child. But no!!!! What you mean by adult is actually return back to childhood—without the fun part of course—where you have to sit in boring classes and do boring chores so as not to anger someone or to be a "good boy".
Well fuck that shit, I will die young in a good looking corpse so you can kiss my immature ass.
